I agree. Two ace techstep tracks in a No U-Turn sort of style, a
handful of interesting breaks and textures, and many, many long minutes
of the same break looping over and over again. There not much going on
melodically and most tracks never really evolve or develop beyond their
original themes. It's not a bad album, but there's not much to
distinguish it from the rest of the pack.
Jungle seems to me to be completely ripe with amazing possibilities,
mostly still unrealized. The prize goes to the first album that's
consistently as good as the first two tracks on Drum & Bass for Papa.
Scooper's recommendation of the si-{cut}.db album is right on the money
and is probably the best available remedy for all of us who want so
badly for jungle to grow up.
